Audiovisual translation is a discipline whose quality requirements have increased with the emergence in recent decades of a new culture based on the multimedia format. This evolution in turn gives a new, purer and more judgmental perspective about cinematographic works, whether they be new or remakes, directed at altering the script as little as possible with the aim of truly appreciating the real value of the work. This obviously includes the conditions that are imposed by a subtitle production methodology.
We can therefore consider it a discipline that has been updated with new, specific rules and whose rigor has been imposed in previous stages, very loosely in terms of the quality of the translated script and especially when creating the subtitles. The translator must be able to perfectly adapt all sorts of expressions, nuances and particularities of this medium to the target language and culture: it must be a specialist.
Adtrad offers a complete range that covers all kinds of audiovisual translation:
– Transcription and/or translation on to a textual format (audio guides, audio books, cinematography, multimedia in general)
– Script translation (short films, feature films, documentaries…)
– Subtitle translation: spotting and synchronization.
The Adtrad team has participated in the subtitle translation for short and feature film festivals, with winning films.
